It Is That Time Of The Year, A Personal Talk

If you have read my articles for past few months or weeks you might have noticed that I have been posting more guest posts lately. The reason behind this is the obvious, the pressure of day job! I work for a financial company, developing their software applications. Every year we undertake slew of projects involving existing application enhancements along with occasional system overhauling projects. Typically projects which requires a system overhaul runs throughout the year and comes to completion by October/November time frame. As the rollout day nears our work pressure increases in terms of testing and release activities. Since in my capacity as subject matter expert I get involved in many such large projects, every year around this time my phone rings round the clock with co workers and developers asking for advice and communicating the status reports. The saga this year started during last week of September and is expected to continue till mid November. I don’t get enough time to write these days. I am grateful to all those who have submitted their guest posts and it is because of them that I still am a good boy in my leader’s eyes (after all that is most

Be Better Employee: How To Write Winning Emails

If your job requires you to spend a significant amount of time in front of a computer, how many mails do you write per day at work? I do send around 30 -50 emails per day on average which includes mails to my team members, direct reports, leaders and colleagues. I write mails to people working in my organization or some other organization we deal with. It is very difficult to cope with a inbox which receives a mail every couple of minutes and you require to answer a few of them as soon as possible. You go crazy at times when an email you receive does not mention clearly the purpose for which it is sent, and you have no clue why the mail is sent to you in first place, it aggravates when the same mail asks for your opinion. Do you know if somebody else is at the receiving end because of one of your email? Very often this becomes true when you are under mercury boiling situation. How to write better emails 1. Carefully select your ‘To’ list and ‘CC’ list, I never use ‘BCC’ unless absolutely necessary, I use BCC only when ‘CC’ list is

Monthly Blog Update

Monthly Blog Update

It has been 1 month since I joined blog network Yakezie. With a big smile on face, let me tell you that it was the best blog decision I ever made. After starting with first post Why This Blog on 03/01/2011, I was getting no where with this blog, for next three months, you can read about my frustrated feeling in these two posts, ‘Why I am failing as blogger‘ and ‘Why people should not follow my blog‘. Just like me, you might also find that writing a finance blog will help keep you motivated when you are trying to save money. Keeping a record and sharing your success through a blog, will positively encourage you to keep going. There are various small things you can do to start saving some dollars, such as checking comparison sites like Love Money for the best deals available, searching for online restaurant vouchers, or even going to the supermarket in the evening because many items are reduced at this time. The key is to find the balance between spending and saving. Last month was fabulous, when slowly traffic started coming in, I got inspired and wrote down an article which best describes why I am

How I Felt Joining Yakezie

June 19, 2011
By

On Saturday I joined Yakezie blog network. after reading and re reading Problogger’s pitch I gave in. Various other blogs I listed on side bar, are members of Yakezie, and seemingly Yakezie is now the only thriving network for PF bloggers. The main reason behind joining this network is to get a driving force so that I can continue to write consistently. At the same time I will be motivated when fellow bloggers over there take time to read and comment. I hardly got any negative comment about my posts, which I am eagerly waiting. Sustainable PF commented on one of my posts about the benefits of joining Yakezie, I did my research got enough convinced. To the readers who do not know Yakezie, They are blog networks with many successful and young blogs as members. Though my name is still not there, I guess on Monday I could be seeing my name appearing in the list, well hopefully, I will now post in their forum and ask about it. In their forum, they discuss the things we always like to talk about, that is all things about blogging success. People are very supportive to each other and always ready

Why People Should Not Follow My Blog

Why People Should Not Follow My Blog

This is a rainy Sunday afternoon, finally rain arrived, after a long wait. It not only helped soil get back some of the moisture it lost in last month or so, but also it helped in containing Miami brush fire to a great extent. My Google reader informed me that Miami fire rescue contained about 85% of fire! Not that we were in fire line, but It was not far either. My wife’s been a couch potato for some time now since lunch, watching ‘Fighter’. I was glancing through various blog carnivals, searching if I am mentioned somewhere, nope after 30 mins of searching, there’s none. Which makes me realize that I am not worthy of  a mention. Earlier I wrote why I am Failing as a blog writer. But since then my daily visitor count increased and I am not failing as badly as I was. Still a LOT of improvement is needed to establish myself as a writer. Now I am little more experienced as a blog writer, I can now distinguish between a genuine comment and a spam. I cna almost tell people’s reaction after reading my own blog post before publishing. I have developed a patience to read and re-read
