Once you’re done with that, continue to next paragraph, if not, finish reading it first.

The biggest gift you can give to your mother, is your presence, I accept your apology for not being able to be with your mother this year. But, do not forget it next year. Perfumes, flowers, chocolates or cards are all fine, but they hardly create any memory. Going by my average readers’ age of 32, your moms are growing older. She loves to get your message, phone call or flowers, but what she badly wants is your presence.

Ignoring few exceptions, your mother mostly shaped you as human being when you were growing up. She was there when you needed most. You take good care of her now, I am sure your children would see and learn the same habit. It’s what I call Karma.

Common Interview Questions and Answers. I liked it because its extensive in nature. The amount of time devoted to this article was great. Although we never ask some questions he mentioned as ‘common’, it’s a treasure for job seekers.

Echo from Boomer & Echo presents Pitfalls Of Chasing The Highest Dividend Yield, and says, “Choosing a dividend stock involves a lot more than simply looking for the highest dividend yield”. – Canada or United States or New Delhi, this simple formula of researching past dividend growth rate should provide better comfort for your dividend investment.

Peter from Bible Money Matters presents How to Setup a Custodial Account for a Minor to Help Them Save or Invest, and says, “There are times where you may want to setup an account for one of your minor children or a family member to help them start saving for the future, to teach them about how to manage money or to jump-start a college savings fund. Depending on what your goals are, there are different ways to go about doing this, but setting up a custodial account under the Uniform Gifts to Minors Act (UGMA) or the Uniform Transfers to Minors Act (UTMA) can be done at most banks, brokerages and mutual fund companies”. Peter said so much, I am not going to take any more space.

Nicole from Nicole and Maggie: Grumpy Rumblings of the Untenured presents How to wash dishes: Beyond Frugality, and says, “Nicole and Maggie discuss the most efficient way to wash dishes using a double sink when you’re without a dishwasher. This is hardcore”. This is really hardcore. The steps and the comments are too engaging. This is very normal in my home country, India. But, abnormal here in US. Before you say good bye to your dish washing liquids, calculate time save vs. money save. For me, saving extra 10 hrs a month is more valuable then spending $20 extra on washing soap and electricity.

Miss T. from Prairie Eco Thrifter presents <a

So dream big, comforted by the knowledge that it’s OK to start your financial journey small. Remember, everything big was once small at the beginning!” <span

Demand for household and personal care products is generally stable and not affected by changes in the economy or other factors. If you lose your job, you probably won’t stop bathing, washing your clothes, brushing your teeth or stop buying toilet paper. That’s why companies in the Consumer Defensive sector are sought after as desirable dividend growth investments.”

Darrow Kirkpatrick from Can I Retire Yet? presents <a

I’m not a Wall Streeter, but the prospect of potentially being able to get in on an IPO has me excited. Small-time investors rarely have this opportunity. Granted, I’ve got only a glimmer of hope of actually buying the stock from eTrade’s allotment. They may laugh at my paltry bid. Friends have said it will be a blessing if eTrade turns me down because then I can buy the stock at a much lower level when it is traded on the market and takes a nosedive, as many analysts are predicting. Call me crazy, but I still want in on the Facebook IPO.”

Drew from My Dollar Plan presents Is Betterment Really a Better Idea?, and says, “What troubles me though is that Betterment went ahead and published a post that was so full of inaccuracies. Was this a cheap attempt to bash advisors in order to drive business their way? Did they truly not understand why their post was inaccurate? Were they unaware of the flaws in the NBER study?

If the answer is yes to any of these questions it raises doubts in my mind as to the business maturity of the Betterment management team. Maybe their model is wonderful and they are a “better mousetrap.” At the end of the day, however, this episode will forever make them suspect in my mind.”

Pierre from Intelligent Speculator presents <a

When I think now, I get amazed by the amount of time she had for us even after taking care of a big extended family. She was like a machine, always running at full throttle.

My father taught us to be best, my mother taught us to remain humble and care others. Father used to say I was gifted and I should not wasted my talent. My mother, on the other hand, kept reminding me that I was born to help others and I was needed to create compassion for others. I needed to create loving and rewarding relationship, I needed to forgive others. I needed to treat others well, I needed to donate to charity once I had enough money.

She taught me to be a better person. You let me <a

You taught me to love and be loved. Thanks you mother, I know it’s nothing in return to what you have done, but this is the best I could do at this moment. This post and whatever success, how little it may be, I tasted is because of you.

You made me happy and you still make me happy. I am missing you today.

Weekly Chit-Chat, Roundup and Gratitude

Personal Life

Weekly Round Up
<guid

All oil and natural gas companies are limited by governmental regulations, concerning the locations, times, and processes for oil and gas extractions.

These regulations typically vary from state to state and are known for increasing considerably with governing oil and natural gas deposits outside of the country. In an ideal investing world, oil and natural gas companies would mine exclusively from politically stable nations, which would adhere to long-term leases.

Unfortunately, oil and gas is a limited resource, and those looking to invest in either or both must often deal with the politics of less structured nations. This is where the bulk of politic risk stems from, as these unstable countries often have shifting governmental structures and unenforced regulations.

Many American oil and natural gas companies find the deals they agree to with foreign companies ending prematurely. Foreign countries’ governments may choose to disregard initial capital investment for their own greater profits. This is generally the case of countries with dictators, newfound nationalization, and corrupt domestic corporations.

These risks are best avoided by creating effective relationships with international partners, which are built on trust, understanding, and sustainability.

Geology

As an investor you should look for investing in things that are generally high in demand, low in supply, and difficult to acquire.

As you can probably tell by today’s rising gas prices, we’ve just about tapped out our resource of easily obtainable gas and oil. We’ve used up most of what we have easy access to, and now we are forced to investigate more treacherous drilling zones (like the middle of the ocean) and unconventional oil extractions (using complex combustion, steam, and carbonation techniques).

The geological risk you face as an investor is directly affected by the difficulty of the oil or gas extraction. With more complex extractions, there is a high potential that reserves will produce less oil and natural gas than originally estimated.

These risks are best avoided by working with oil and gas geologists who test frequently and will give you the most accurate level of “proven,” “probable,” and “possible,” when discussing their geological estimates.

Supply and Demand

Due to the complicated nature of extracting oil and natural gas, oil and natural gas prices are known for being particularly volatile. Drilling and other complicated extraction methods require enormous investments of time and capital, which can easily result in huge losses. In addition to these direct risks, the prices of oil and natural gas fluctuate with changing economic factors.

Unfortunately, there is no planning for supply and demand risks, but this is true of most investing. Your best bet is to be extra careful with investing during times of economic uncertainty.

Capital Costs

As previously mentioned, drilling and complicated extraction processes require huge start up costs. These costs are multiplied by the difficulty of the extraction, the quality of the drill, the level of political regulation, and the price for qualified, trustworthy workers.

The oil and natural gas industry is notoriously a capital-intensive industry. This should be the key determinant factor in whether or not to invest in this industry. In our current economic recession, very few can actually afford to invest in oil and natural gases. Like they say in Vegas, to win big, you must play big. But as many of you risk-takers already know, playing big can also mean losing bigger.

Investing in oil and natural gas comes with a pretty sizeable learning curve, so you’ll want to do as much research as possible before investing the huge amounts of capital required to get started. You will be faced with evaluating different companies for their experiences, success rates, and their fits with your needs. In turn, these companies will want to get a lot of information about you to assess your suitability. You will need to work with a lawyer, because this weight of investment requires a considerable amount of regulation and compliance.

For novice oil and natural gas investors, an investment advisor can assist you in developing a “risk control model” to best diversify these different potential areas of risk. These advisors can also direct you to the best companies and industry partners with the best records of low risk capitals.

Yes, there are many risks associated with oil and natural gas investing, but fortunately, by reading this article, you are already well on your way to making smart investments.

SB’s Thought – I was reading a report the other day. World has enough gasoline to sustain us till an alternative fuel is discovered. While we are awaiting for green fuel to be cheaper than gasoline, we would probably not lose money investing in oil and natural gas in a time horizon of 10 years, give or take a few.

Glad that Lynn has touched the subject thoroughly as per my expectation. The article does not talk about boring charts and patterns in oil and gas investment. It’s a real beginner’s guide to help you decide on investing in oil sector. Decision is yours.

What’s your take on oil and natural gas sector as an investment option.

2012 Tax Rates and Tax Brackets for Filing Taxes in 2013

Income Tax

Tax Return

Tax return

Taxes
<guid

After all, she can keep track of her expenses. The app allows her to send alerts whenever she needs to pay some bills, as well as schedule them beforehand (such as monthly, daily, or weekly).

I also liked it because we can both keep track of our credit cards and my investments on the go. Some of my friends are also using other apps such as Yodlee and Easy Bills. They do help us monitor our budget, income, and expenses. They’re easy to use too, so you don’t have to be ultra smart with counting money before you can use them.

We can monitor all our bank accounts

Not all banks are into mobile banking yet, but we’re lucky because ours are. When we need to check on money transfers and balances, we don’t have to bring along our laptops anymore while travelling. We simply sign in to your mobile banking accounts. We can also transfer money conveniently. There’s no need to pay for gas just to do it in our own banks.

Even I use PayPal’s iPhone app to check on the expected payments when I am at work. Both my checking banks provide bill pay through mobile app. We have auto-pay setup hence, we do not use the bill pay feature.

You can pay bills through your mobile phone

Remember the times when you have to get out of the house just to pay your bills? Once came the computers, you needed to be at home to pay your bills. Now, with smart phones, you can even skip being at home and have more time for something else.

Your bank’s smart phone app can pay bills for you. This means you authorize utilities and credit card companies to withdraw money from your accounts once it’s time to pay them.

Let me tell you, once we did this, my wife had more time to take care of herself. For me, that’s important because she too also works hard in the home. She can spend most of her free days pampering herself or reading a book or going out with friends.

It’s a mobile wallet

We’re glad that a couple of stores around us now accept mobile payments. still we pay with plastic credit card, as we do not have Google wallet, it’s not supported on our AT&T phones yet.

I see people waving their phone at the checkout line, they don’t need to bring credit cards or cash. We just hope that iPhone should be enabled for making mobile payments and more stores will be open to mobile payments. Check out this review of Google Wallet for more.

We can shop through online coupons

Ever since online coupons became available, we hardly buy dailies or magazines anymore. And since smart phones can connect us to the Internet, all we need to do is to present the codes to the store, and we can already enjoy our discounts. It’s so easy, really.

Coupon Sherpa has now become a part of our shopping trip. We always score over other shopper with the help of Coupon Sherpa. Each time I used the coupon sherpa app, it invariable resulted in a question “what’s that?” from fellow shoppers. Once an old lady even wrote down the app name for passing on to her daughter.

There are already a lot of plans to choose from

There are a couple of smart phone plans that are very practical and affordable. Moreover, we could tie in several phones in one plan. For example, my wife and I share the same family plan. This helps us financially since we only get to pay one bill every month. Further, we can both monitor our use. Prepaid-wise, text and call charges have decreased considerably over the years.

You can compare prices

A few weeks ago, I downloaded a new app called Google Shopper. What it does is to compare prices between offline and online stores just to let you know which provides you a much better deal for the same product, and it’s so convenient to use. Just place your phone near the bar code, scan it with your camera, and open the app. It immediately searches for similar or even exact items and compare prices.

You can save money on calls

In fact, you can choose not to spend anything on calls, even if the person you’re talking to is several miles away. You can definitely forget about long-distance or roaming charges, which can sometimes be so absurd. As long as you’re connected through Wi-Fi, you can already use Skype or Google Video Chat. To top it off, Google Voice gives you a free phone number and text messages, so you also don’t spend any money on texts.

We don’t use GPS

We have three options on our phone, a free app from MapQuest which is in every way better voice and graphic navigation system compared to Garmin or TomTom we once had. As a back up we have Google’s voice less navigation system and AT&T Navigator (not free) which can be activated anytime whenever we need it to be.

So If you have a smart phone, you can forget about buying a GPS navigation system or using a car with an inbuilt GPS in it. Buy a phone holder and fit your smart phone in it. you’ll achieve the same purpose.

Not into smart phones yet? If you’re worried about the cost, don’t. A lot of them are already very affordable, and you don’t need to have an iPhone just to own a smart phone.

Yakezie Carnival – the Facebook IPO Edition

Yakezie

Yakezie Carnival

Carnival
<guid

That’s not bad either considering all top-tier tech companies (Google, Amazon, eBay and LinkedIn) are valued a few times their IPO price even today.

Honest confession – I will have a limit order set up for the first day, It’s purely speculative play but worth taking risk, there’s not many internet companies of the size and stature of Facebook out there.
<hr

I was dejected to find out that my idea of renting out perosnal cars had already been taken out by others a few years back.

Those ways are very simple and you will not need to take too much effort to earn money from your car. So your car will start helping your budget and it will surely help you to maintain your economic condition in spite of rising inflation.

Following is a list of five ways by which you can earn using your car. You need to find other uses and if you do, write a comment below.

1) Taking children to school and picking up

Seriously my friend’s wife does this. She teaches at an elementary school and on her way she picks up kids in her mini van. She earns $5 one way per child.

You will have to drop students to school, and after school you will have to drop them at their homes. You need to be very particular about time. You have to map out your route covering all the homes which reaches school in shortest route possible. You’ll need to be arriving each home to pick up on-time, every day.

Like everything else, this method also requires you to have discipline and efficiency at work. You may lose your customers for the lack of discipline. No body wants their kid to be at school late. And it costly proposition for parents if their kid stays at school afterwards for you being late at picking them up from school.

2) Use it for a taxi service

You can start taxi service using your car. (or a delivery service). You’ll need a special license for that though. your driver’s license you not do.

Taxi service pays well. Just keeping Taxi board on a top of your car will convert your car into taxi, no further modification is needed to convert your car into a taxi. If you already have a license then you should complete further legal procedures before starting taxi service.

if you happen to live in an area which attracts tourist you can be a week-end tourist guide, I know one such person in Miami, he works as contractor in our company. He makes good money over the weekends showing tourists the Miami attractions.

3) Do paid advertising

In this way you will have to do advertising of various products or companies. You will have to put posters of that company on your car. The most preferred position to place posters in a car is on a rare window of a car which is visible to others on road most of the time compared to any other place on your car.

So by placing a poster on rare window of car will show ads to people. Many companies know that this kind of advertising is one of the best ways to reach to people and hence they give good money for doing such advertising.

4) Deliver pizzas

This may require your time as well, unless you have someone at home who can do it for you. Many pizza stores hire people who can deliver pizzas. Search for nearby pizza stores and apply for off hour delivery.

Usually this sector has year-round demand for people with vehicles. If you have time and a car you can earn $10 -$20 per hour by delivering Pizza, including tips. Watch out “now hiring” stores signs.

5) Rent-out your car

You can give your car on rent, through an agency like GetAround or through personal channel. This is a comfortable way, because you will not need to pay attention round the clock, kind of passive income stream it looks like. Average rental cost is usually from $3 to $15 per hour at Getaround.

The Get Around service is a registry of providers and renters. You can list your car for someone to rent it out on days you have no use for the car, earning you some easy money. you can also arrange for a driver and provide a chauffeur driven service to wealthy travelers.

6) Offer Driving lessons

Get a permit and start driving lessons. this again can be your week-end fun activity which could earn you extra money. This can be a sustainable business if you show results. Be a careful and safe teacher.

I would have turned in to a weekend instructor had I not have this blog. Our 2002 Hyundai Elantra can be a perfect fit for turning it in to a car with two brakes on both front sides. Now that we almost never use it.

Which option you want to choose readers? Not only car, your parking space can also earn you money, to know about using parking space to earn money read Save money on parking cost.

So far I have only though a car as an instrument which lose value over the time. A car is needed only for personal comfort. Now I know useful ways my car be used when I am sitting at home or working in my cubicle.

Readers, do you make your car work for money? Or, like mine, your car is just another money draining machine?
