This is a guest post from blogger Amy Davis from Slay Your Budget. She is a former therapist, stay-at-home mom of 4 and die-hard University of Pittsburgh Panthers fan. She made financial freedom a priority after their third daughter who required a 53 day NICU stay, 14 surgeries to date, and of course, large medical bills. Hope you enjoy her personal story and her values about her worth in terms of time.

In my former work life, I was a therapist treating children and teens with various mental health challenges. After an evaluation with the psychologist deemed these kids in need of treatment, they were paired with a therapist like myself, to formulate a treatment plan and commence therapy.

Imagine this scenario: you’ve been stuck in a job you hate for nearly a decade. It doesn’t pay a lot, just enough for you to keep on top of your bills and put some money away. Perhaps you’re paying down debt or maybe want to put a down payment on a house.

How to Keep Motivation When Income Goes Down

And then a dream job opportunity comes up. It’s a job in a great company with a lot of opportunity for career progression, but the hours are more suited to you and allow you to pursue your other passions. Maybe you have a blog or a side hustle that you could really do with spending more time on.

My life is more a mess than organized, I have no hesitation in admitting. Just because of SMB we do have a clean home and a clean car and I do get time to eat my meals. Unlike the ideal productivity and lifestyle bloggers I do not yet have control over my daily life. As a tentative new year resolution I vowed to get back in to organization and to remove clutter from home, work and mind.

Organize your life

Sad to say, many people lose self-esteem because of some unsolicited mishaps that happened. A bad experience from another person can be a ground too in losing self-esteem. Even our own self can be a culprit why up to now we cannot confidently face people. These are all because we tend to swim in the ocean of pessimism for long that we can no longer gasp for air until we drown.

Self Esteem

Self-esteem as the word implies must come from within. Yes, we may anchor it from other people, things, or circumstances. However, if our own self won’t cooperate and continue to put our self down, we will head nowhere.

Happiness, I definitely believe, is the holy grail for everyone. The problem is, we equate it to money, most of the time. I always keep this in mind: money can buy you a bed but never sleep. The best things in life—and those that will bring utter joy—are the ones with no price tag.

I need happiness in life, so do you, so do all of us.

It doesn’t come all the time, I can’t really say I’m a content, peaceful man. I have my share of sorrow and down moments. Repeating the apt repeated phrase, this blog is my way to learn things and get ahead in life. Likewise this post is to remind you as well as myself that happiness can be found if we stretch your hand at right direction, even with little money.

Warning: This is a philosophical post, not based on hard-facts. Many of you may disagree to most of the content, but it sure can induce thoughts in your mind.
