If you had asked me few years ago what’s the best romantic gift for my wife, I would have inadvertently said ‘Lingerie’. But in my 8 years of married life I have learned to go beyond those stuff. A walk on the beach on a full moon night is by far more romantic than a lingerie, which anyway you’d see on her for a few minutes before those come off.

In my childhood, I had known a teddy bear as most romantic gift around. Today as I sat down to write this article I can think of many ideas that can be romantic and frugal for every spouse.

We do not have cell phone text messaging plan. We try to limit sending text messages. This is not looked down upon greatly by our friends. Over the weekend we were travelling along with another couple in our car. We switched off the cell phone GPS system while on highway. When we told them the reason being we were very close to our monthly data plan limit, they made faces. I could see through rare-view mirror.

This might be happening on this blog too. I know there have been readers who came, read a few posts and then left. I may have been too frugal in their eyes. Even at the time of recession, frugality is considered to be poor man’s choice. If some one makes points like below.

When I lived in the United States I listened closely to all the things we were taught of saving money and energy and the environment.

Those of you who live there know very well how many commercials run and how many innuendoes’s there are in everyday television shows. Even when I followed all the tips such as replacing my light bulbs with incandescent lights, turning off the water while I was brushing my teeth and other such money saving tips my light bills were still too high. I tried all of the usual tips but nothing seemed to lower that one massive bill enough.
