How Today’s Entrepreneurs Compete to Win

How do modern businesses compete with each other for market share? Gone are the days of advertising wars, in which corporations in the same product niche simply tried to outspend each other on marketing, promotion, and ad placement.

Today’s entrepreneurs still spend money on ads, but they bring a few other weapons to the battlefield of commerce. Some of those tools include philosophies about getting by with as few workers as possible, managing vehicle fleets to guarantee supreme efficiency, letting employees work flexible schedules, outsourcing whenever possible, and paying extra-close attention to customer service. Here’s how companies get the job done in each of those five areas.

Lean Staffing

Employees cost money, so the fewer you have the more you save. Today’s entrepreneurs are careful to keep staff numbers to a bare minimum, and only hire new people when there’s a real need.

Fleet Management

Fleet expenses can be a significant part of any company’s operations, which is why it’s essential for modern organizations to use advanced programs, like telematics, to optimize fuel usage, driver hours, truck safety, and more. It’s possible to acquire a good understanding of how commercial fleets use dash cams, for example, just by viewing an online guide about the subject.

Dash cameras capture driving events like mandatory stops, accidents, route compliance, pickup of goods, and delivery location. Of course, these sophisticated programs do much more than record pertinent visuals.

They also log driver hours, track geographic location of cargo in real time, and much more. Using a top-ranked fleet management program can help any company stay competitive.

Flexible Workforce

Staying ahead of competitors means letting your team work a flexible schedule.

That way, when the busy season cranks up, your squad will be rested and ready to go, and will have the ability to work non-traditional shifts to meet the needs of a special client of major project deadline.

Outsourcing

Just a generation ago, outsourcing was a taboo word in the corporate world. If your firm engaged in it, you were tagged as a semi-failure, unable to do everything in-house. Not so for the 2020s, an era in which the more chores you can outsource, the more you’re hailed as an efficiency king.

Smart outsourcing means hiring others to do tasks you either don’t have the ability to complete or can save money by having someone else do them. Modern organizations typically outsource niche jobs that require specialized skills, like accounting services, legal assistance, IT security, and more.

Attentive Customer Service

CRM software, for customer relationship management, is a modern wonder of speed and efficiency. Even organizations with massive client databases can keep track of every interaction with a prospective, current, or former buyer of goods of services.

This sort of attention to detail means happier customers and, in the end, a stronger bottom line. One fact that attests to the power and competitive value of CRM apps and software is their usage by sole proprietors who often have as few as a dozen customers. That’s the beauty of CRM as a competitive tool. It works for entities of all types and sizes.
