Make Money Online in Your Spare Time

Making money online often involves long, in-depth processes (like starting a blog or YouTube channel) that can take months or even years to generate any real profit. Who has the time to sink into that, after all? Can you make money online in your spare time?

Make Money Online in Your Spare Time

You can make a quick $100 in a day or two but how can you do it sustainably, every day? With something like a YouTube channel, you’d need camera equipment and other resources to even get your channel off the ground. You need to be a good talker and should have a clear voice quality.

Producing a video takes a much longer time than writing an online article.

Here are five easy ways to make money online in your spare time.

1. Take Surveys

Interested in selling your opinions for money?

Who wouldn’t be! With a survey site, you can offer your opinion on retail items and practices, getting paid in the process.

Companies pay good money for this information, so it only makes sense that you should get a piece of the pie.

With so many survey-taking platforms available on the web, which ones are legitimate?

It’s important to use the services of a reputable website, so you don’t become the victim of a survey scam.

A survey scam usually takes your personal information, gives you a few surveys, and then never sends anymore work.

It’s safe to say your personal information isn’t being kept private in a situation such as this.

Sites like Survey Junkie, OpinionOutpost and Swagbucks have high user ratings and accreditation as legitimate businesses; making them secure platforms from which to earn income.

2. Review Websites

If a site isn’t user-friendly, it won’t do well. We’ve all used a website that made us want to scream (the faulty navigation bar, freezing pages, etc.) and let’s be honest. We probably didn’t revisit that site anytime soon after our poor experience with it.

This is where website testers come into play.

You’ll be paid anywhere from $5-25, (depending on the work and the site you’re working with) to perform various tasks related to testing the UX of the website.

This will help designers get a feel for what users look for in site and app design, allowing them to create better designs in the future.

The largest of these testing sites is UserTesting. Sign-up is easy, with just an email address and site account, you can get started right away making extra cash reviewing websites for their usability.

While there are other platforms you can work from, UserTesting is one of the most popular and trusted sites out there for this type of work.

3. Take Freelance Gigs

You can become a freelancer pretty much overnight if you already have a skill like writing or photography that you’re proficient in.

You’ll want to put together a portfolio beforehand to show off your work to potential clients; and from there, you can join sites like Fiverr.

These platforms host huge communities of freelancers and clients alike, giving you ample opportunity to gather customers and start generating money.

Freelancing allows you the flexibility of making your schedule, which is perfect for those looking to escape the bonds of the typical 9-5 or a simple way to generate extra income.

Freelancing does take a certain level of discipline to maintain on a daily basis, so if you plan to make it a regular gig, you’ll want to create a schedule for yourself and create a dedicated workspace.

Graphic designers, stock photographers, and copywriters are all in high demand, so there is certainly a market available for freelancers to take advantage of.

Check out Fiverr, ProBlogger, Freelancer.com, or UpWork today to find freelance opportunities all over the globe.

Most freelancers work remotely as well, so you won’t have to travel or uproot your life for clients in another state.

4. Sell Textbooks

Did you know that you can sell your old college textbooks for cash today?

There are plenty of websites available that accept (slightly) used books at a reduced buyback price.

The best part is, as soon as you accept your offer, you’ll print your prepaid shipping label and ship your books the same day.

Not only are you getting some of the money back that you originally spent on your books, but you’re also providing a future student with a quality used book that will help mitigate their school expenses (which continue to rise every year).

If you live near a college or university, you can up the ante. Buying books from students and reselling them through online channels is a profitable business for many.

There are online stores that can readily buy your test books. You’ll need the book’s ISBN, as well as details about the condition of the book.

After valuation by the staff at whichever site you chose once it arrives. This ensures quality and fair pricing.

5. Online Garge Sale Sites

The days of putting a sign in your yard and dragging all of your excess items into the yard or garage have been left behind by garage sale sites and apps.

These helpful tools provide a secure and information-rich platform from which to sell just about anything; from textbooks to cellphones and electronics to furniture.

Not everyone appreciates the experience of a garage sale, and that’s ok.

You can still rid yourself of excess material items and make a nice profit through apps like LetGo or Facebook’s Marketplace.

You can also shop on these platforms, narrowing down your search by item, price, area, and more.

6. Amazon reselling

There are thousands of resellers on amazon that buy stuff from Amazon itself on the prime day or when they get a bigger discount.

Then they proceed to sell the same stuff on Amazon at a slightly less price than Amazon itself.

This is easier to do than what your first thought was.  Is it a good strategy to make money online in your spare time?

There are many Facebook and WhatsApp groups that get flooded with above-average discounts, as soon as such a discount is available.

So, you can buy your merchandise instantly, as soon as the deal is announced.

Fulfilled By Amazon (FBA) is a feature by which Amazon takes care of sipping, labeling and stocking, including returns.

From your couch, you can earn handsome money and at the same time you can rack up credit card reward points. When you have reward business cards to take care of all your buying, you can enjoy perks like free travel or fat cashback.

See how you can use credit card rewards to your advantage.

Conclusion

There are hundreds of ways to make money online in your spare time, but these five will help you make money quickly. If you do it right, you might even be able to turn something like freelancing into a full-time gig!
