Monthly Blog Update

It has been 1 month since I joined blog network Yakezie. With a big smile on face, let me tell you that it was the best blog decision I ever made. After starting with first post Why This Blog on 03/01/2011, I was getting no where with this blog, for next three months, you can read about my frustrated feeling in these two posts, ‘Why I am failing as blogger‘ and ‘Why people should not follow my blog‘.

Just like me, you might also find that writing a finance blog will help keep you motivated when you are trying to save money. Keeping a record and sharing your success through a blog, will positively encourage you to keep going. There are various small things you can do to start saving some dollars, such as checking comparison sites like Love Money for the best deals available, searching for online restaurant vouchers, or even going to the supermarket in the evening because many items are reduced at this time. The key is to find the balance between spending and saving.

Last month was fabulous, when slowly traffic started coming in, I got inspired and wrote down an article which best describes why I am writing this blog.

Coming back to contribution of Yakezie network, the impact of joining the network was huge. The forum on Yakezie is full with successful bloggers, willing to help each others. The valuable tips I received over there has been the sole reason of this blog’s success in last one month, in this period, my Alexa rank came down from 2.6M to 285K.

In order to become Yakezie member (now I am challenger) I should be ranked lower than 200K by the end of 6 months (for me it is by December 16th 2011). I am confidant of achieving that, I am hopeful that my readers will continue to visit the site and I will add on to the visitors count further.

Few statistics on the Google analytics now, as picture worth thousand words, let pictures do the talking.

Top Referral Sites

Apart from increase in traffic, income also started coming in, although you don’t see advertisement on this site yet. The reason being I am not accepting the kind of offers I am getting as of now, better it is to wait for the traffic and rank to increase, before entering in to long-term contracts with advertisers. It will give me right price for the limited space I have for banners and links.

Readers, do expect to see advertisement on this site in coming months, I sincerely hope that you agree to my need of monetary rewards for the resources and time I am putting behind this blog. I am optimistic that not a single reader will desert the site after ads starts appearing.

I am also hopeful of getting positive Mozrank and Pagerank very soon. No of back links as per Google webmaster tool is around 600, although Alexa says only 19. There are too many ranking systems on the web that’s for sure.

I am also not appearing yet on Wise bread and Money Crashers list, but, I have visitors stats that can put me in to top 300 blogs in their list, as I have 720+ Twitter followers and 42 Face Book followers. This is a mystery as of now, may some of my readers throw some light here.

As of now, income from this blog is not much, but I recovered the hosting cost and domain registration cost and some extra change. I can say that this business is in black. Income expected to grow further as traffic grows. Till then, my focus would be on two things, networking with fellow blog writers and keep on writing consistently.

Keep reading, keep coming back for more. That’s all for today.

Will you help me by following me on Twitter and/or Facebook, and subscribing to my RSS feed?

You need to contact wisebread and moneycrashers to get added to their lists. It does not happen automatically.

Well done! I remember my first days when I loved stats and loved the small change. I think you should dream big, write some amazing content and promote it. People WILL notice and that’s when referral traffic will really pick up. From there, search traffic will grow too!

good encouragement Daniel. I believe though that search traffic is pure mathematics. When I had 20 posts, I was getting 10 -12 per day search traffic, now I have 40 posts and getting 20 -25 search visits a day. more you post more search traffic you get.

Great work! Isn’t Yakezie wonderful. Allow me to give you some advice…DON’T STOP!! I went hard on Yakezie for 6 months, became a member, then slacked off. I started messing with some other sites and let my participation in Yakezie wane, my alexa ranking started climbing back up.

I am back now, but upset I didn’t keep the consistency. I know I could have been below 50K Alexa by now. It’s all good. I am back and Yakezie is awesome!!

You already know this, but I just wanted to tell you to never quit the group. You can and will dominate!

Advise well taken, I only fear consistency, I should not loose interest in blogging. If I don’t I know it will be a success soon

Keep it up, SB. As Freddie said above, don’t slack off, or Alexa will kick you in the rear.
