In early February, we went to St. Augustine, FL. We stayed there for 3 nights. Since three families went together, we booked a large vacation rental. Total cost including everything except local shopping was $300 for two of us. This is as cheap as it is possible. We didn’t cut out on the fun, though. We ate out, we visited every place St. Augustine had on offer. We grilled, we spent time on the beach, we had lunch at a high scale restaurant. What clicked for us?

Budget Travel Tips

There’s plenty that clicked for us. Will explain to you why in a while. Planning a trip for your family can be both an exciting and daunting task. You want to give your family an excellent vacation, one that everyone will enjoy, and create some unforgettable memories along the way. But with all of the costs and decisions to make; planning your down time can be a lot of extra work. But don’t be discouraged! The internet offers many resources for making your vacation planning a simpler and less expensive experience.

To continue from where we left on Monday when debt becomes too much to handle there’s one relief we can think of, debt consolidation to reduce the interest rate. That may affect your credit but getting rid of debt burden at a cheaper cost makes it favorable. Previously I posted about self-consolidating debt to avoid high fees of debt consolidating companies.

Tackling Debt

Debt consolidation has few aspects that you should know. It has a very bad impression on your credit, it requires hefty fees and you’re faced with the increased tax burden. Please note, I’ll never recommend my friends and family to go for debt consolidation. I’d rather advice them to go to a credit counselor instead.

We are from India and we do regularly visit our friends and family there. I have a bank account in India where I remit money to before going there. This money usually covers all expenses in incur during our India trips. But it may require us to travel to another company for work. We may even plan a Europe trip in coming years. One of the questions that I’d need answer on is how to pay for expenses overseas?

Travel Money

When going abroad, whether for business or pleasure, one thing you need to consider is exchanging currency and how you are going to carry your money whilst overseas. This is not a decision that should be taken lightly. You could end up getting a lot less for your cash if you do not assess your options. After all, let’s say you leave exchanging your money until you get to the airport.

We took a road trip in 2010 fall, almost 5 years ago. We flew to Boston, then took a rental car and visited 14 states in 21 days. it was exciting at first, fun after one week and tiring in the last week. We learned our lessons and will keep our next road trip duration smaller, certainly not more than 14 days. We spent a lot of money but expenses could have shot u had we not saved money in various ways, like gas, food and hotel stays.

RoadTrip

Do you need a break or want to spend some time with family, take a road trip? Don’t let money hold you. Remember, a successful road trip is possible even without a full wallet. But for this, you have to shun expensive places, shopping, extravagant activities and much more. Just select a place that isn’t very costly and yet entertains you to the fullest. Traveling is great, and this statement doesn’t really need an explanation. Another thing everyone is sure to know is that traveling is expensive. Even if you choose the cheapest accommodation in the area, cook your own food and avoid any kind of entertainment you have to pay for, you are still very likely to spend more when traveling than when staying at home.

Hotel Room

But the expenses are worth it, anyway. Speaking of expenses, apart from transportation, the largest part of your travel budget is usually taken up by accommodation. Now, the question is would you rather spend more to stay in a beautiful and ridiculously expensive 5 star hotel to have that super comfortable and luxurious all inclusive travel experience or opt for low-cost accommodation and spend the money you saved somewhere else? Both options obviously have their pros and cons, and we are going to look into them right now.
