4 Reasons why I Outsourced My Website Design

When I first started this blog, way back in 2011, I knew that only writing content regularly, multiple times a week, is the only challenge. But very soon I realized that more challenge lies in day to day maintenance of the site and having a good looking website are bigger hurdles to overcome.

4 Reasons why I Outsourced My Website Design

I started doing the design myself, after all, I was techy! I do software development for a living. But the designing logo, designing header, footer, and social media icons, their placements were too much of an artistic job, for which I had no training.

I started hiring $5 Fiverr gigs. But those designers were not at all putting their best for just $5. I ended up taking the help of a professional designer. It took me about a year to finally let my guards down and seek professional help.

If you are a blogger or have an eCommerce website, even if you’re an expert designer, you should seek professional designers’ help.

With all the drag and drop, easy to use website builders out there you would think creating a website would be the last thing you should spend money on.

But trying to do it yourself can cost a lot of time and money and a sloppy website can cost you, customers. The other day, I was speaking to Dmitrii Kustov, an SEO expert, and here’s what he had to say about the importance of outsourcing your website.

1. Time

Learning to build your own website can be simple if you use a platform with templates and drag and drop designs. If you’re not tech savvy even this can take a little bit of time to figure out.

Creating a customized site with all the bells and whistles requires knowledge on HTML, other online languages, and more involved website building platforms.

By outsourcing your website, you get an expert that doesn’t have to waste any of you or your inexperienced employees time.

Down the road when you’re having website difficulties or want to integrate something new, you save time by having an expert on hand who can give you technical support and help you implement new website necessities.

With an outsourced website, there’s no wasted time sending employees to training, trying to figure it out on your own, or troubleshooting problems.

2. Money

You might think it would cost more to hire someone to outsource your website but saving time also saves you money. Trying to train current employees or trying to figure it out on your own eats up valuable time that could be spent on your actual business.

Even if you hire an experienced employee that would handle the website and technical aspects of your business, you’re spending much more money than you would outsource it.

The hiring process is costly. You spend hours and maybe even days sorting through applications, setting up interviews, and finding the right fit.

Then once they’re hired you have a new salary to pay and benefits to provide. Outsourcing your website requires hiring someone who is self-employed or works with an agency.

You’re paying for a one time service each time you need their assistance so you’re spending money only when needed versus paying a consistent amount to an employee.

3. Efficiency

Hiring an expert also helps to make sure that your customers get the best experience out of your website. Sometimes trying to load your site with too many things, especially using a premade template, can slow down the experience.

Using files that are too large or poorly created plugins can cause your page to load slowly and customers may not have the patience to wait for it to load. Outsourcing your website also allows the expert to optimize your site for all types of devices.

With the majority of website views coming from mobile, you want a website that transfers well between desktop, mobile, and tablet.

Customers can also get frustrated if your website isn’t organized well. If they can’t easily find what they’re looking for or perform an action, such as checking out, you may lose that customer.

An expert has enough experience to know how to set up an effective layout with menus, headers, links, picture, and text to help produce the most efficient website for your customers and business.

4. Design

The expertise from outsourcing gives you the freedom to build any website you imagine. It might be difficult or impossible to create the exact website you’re picturing for your business without the guidance or work of an expert.

You’re also hiring someone who frequently works on and looks at websites so they can help you keep your site up to date with style. Having a designer gives you the flexibility and infinite choices that drag and drop templates don’t.

It’s a smart business move to outsource your website for many reasons. On top of saving time and money, you’ll have a beautiful, efficient, fast website.

Hiring someone outside of your company will get fresh eyes and a new, expert perspective on your site if you’ve already started one.

They may see flaws that you never would have picked up and can tweak it to perfection. If you haven’t even thought about a website, a consultation with a website designer should be in your near future so you can create the online presence that your business deserves.

You are absolutely right, when I was running my consulting business, outsourcing the design was the best money I spent. Today I am only running a blog, but to be honest this should be the next task, even if it will cost me.
