Summer is fast approaching, and you may start thinking of having a good time, but that’s not all. You have to prepare for escalating electric bills since your room must remain cool during the season. Of course, you wouldn’t want to experience the sweltering heat that comes with summer.

Thermostat

Here, in South Florida, we face a huge electricity bill for 5 summer months. We need to run our AC round the clock. We got some relief since installing a smart thermostat and installing a better window and door installation.

Here are some easy ways to keep your cooling costs in check.

  1. Window upgrades or repair

It is normal that with time, windows may wear out, making them energy inefficient.

So to reduce your home cooling costs, you must install energy-efficient windows.

If you already have such windows, you can repair them if they are not badly off.

Although it may cost you, you will lower your energy bills in the long run.

  1. Ensure your windows are sealed

Spaces in windows can leak air, thus interfering with your cooling system function.

Also, you should seal windows that have leaks and cracks so that the fresh air will not escape through your windows.

  1. Set-up a programmable thermostat

Programmable thermostats will ensure your energy usage reduces.

For instance, if you have a smart thermostat, you can reduce energy usage by adjusting temperatures even when you’re away.

Most thermostat models will require you to program them or buy the one that changes depending on your temperature needs. You can also install others using an app while away from home.

  1. Set up solar panels

Most roofs have solar panels to help lower cooling costs.

However, purchasing one may be costly, but in the long run, it will save you from escalating electricity bills.

So whether you buy or lease a solar panel, what matters is the energy usage and system, which will dictate the bill amount you save.

  1. Consider the use of ceiling fans

The importance of ceiling fans is that they circulate fresh air.

This makes your air conditioning system to function efficiently.

If you have these fans, you can install them in your house to increase energy efficiency?

  1. Have your HVAC air filters Replaced

Air filters are crucial when it comes to the smooth functioning of your HVAC system. It prevents dust that can block your vents; hence, preventing air circulation.

Ensure the filters are always clean for your system to circulate fresh air.

To make sure your filters work correctly at all times, you’ll need to change them after several months of use.

Don’t worry as air filters are cheap and anyone can switch them without needing help.

When summer approaches, everyone would love to keep their home fresh and non-sweaty. This may require you to upgrade your windows, ensuring they don’t have any cracks and spaces to allow in the air that may interfere with your cooling system.

You can also invest in a programmable thermostat to help reduce energy usage.

When you are away, you can use a Braeburn thermostat to allow you to adjust temperatures that suit your needs.

Thermostats have the technology to observe your home’s temperature and humidity.
