One Cent Weekly Roundup, The Merry Christmas Edition

Since Friday, December 23, my year-end vacation started. We get 28 paid vacation days a year and it’s take-it or loose-it scenario. I had 6 days leaves left to be taken and opted for last 6 working days of the year. Earlier we planned to go to Savannah, GA for a couple of days.

But, we found out that Paula Deen’s restaurant, “The Lady and Sons”, the number one attraction of Savannah per SMB (my wife), was booked till first week of January.

There was not much charm left now, as we live near beach any ways and Miami beach is by far the best beach we have seen so far, across the world.

We now plan on to visit some unexplored local attractions around us, like a Japanese garden, a bird sanctuary and a shark alley. List is not bad and we are convinced our vacation will be well spent this way. We are invited to a couple of parties as well. Overall, it should be eventful last few days of the year.

This morning I did some Santa shopping alone. As usual, SMB wants to change the dresses I bought her, more over, her pant was two sizes too short and her bangles were 2 sizes larger. Another trip to the mall is guaranteed on 26th December.  I did my best and picked the dress a shop mannequin was wearing and she was looking very pretty.

On Christmas day, we will do some gift exchanges with friends along with a BBQ party. Looking forward to it and badly want the days to be much much longer for me to enjoy my vacation more. 🙂

If you are not partying, here are some good articles that you can read.

Head over to The College Investor to check Robert’s wish list for the Christmas!

After hearing my rambling on Solar power, let’s hear Miss T on the same subject of Solar power @ Prairie Eco Thrifter.

Bashing The Simple Dollar is a bold step, Control Your Cash does that Constructively Criticizes Trent Hamm and his star PF blog. Do not miss this article.

Shaun at Smart Family Finance presents ways to accumulate money for the next christmas, provided 14M people didn’t yet paid off their last christmas shopping bills.

Marie @ Broke Professionals asks to put more efforts at work towards being noticed. I can’t deny it’s an important part of office politics. Unless you show off your good work, it seldom counts.

Jeff Rose at Good Financial Cents writes about some changes in Roth IRA in 7 things you must know about Roth IRA in 2012. Very useful information for you Roth investment.

At the end the best video I watched in recent past. A Fedex delivery gone wrong..yeah it was fragile computer monitor. A very fast delivery indeed and the courier might have lost his job by now.

Thanks so much for the inclusion. I hope you had a great holiday weekend with your family. I still can’t believe it is almost 2012. Crazy how much time flies.
