Items You Should Always Have In Your Car

It is very important that you have some items inside your car in order to be properly prepared in the future for anything that happens. Most vehicle owners are not ready for anything. Do not make such a mistake since what you have inside is just as important as having  Registration,  license and insurance  paper work.

7 Items You Should Always Have In Your Car

If you do not have such coverage, you end up paying everything out of your own pockets, which is not great. In a similar way, remember that being prepared is the best thing you can do. This is why you should have the following in your car.

1. The Owner’s Manual

You always should have your owner’s manual inside the vehicle as you drive. This is because the document tells you very important information, like recommended PSI and fuel levels.

Also, you can find other data that is unique for your car. If you do not have your owner’s manual, download one from the internet and print it out.

Besides the owner’s manual, make sure that you keep updated car repair information, together with AAA information and insurance claim forms.

Everything should be kept in the same place.

All of these will be really useful when you sell the vehicle but they also help a lot when you repair the car.

The repairman will gain access to very important information.

2. Car Maintenance And Repair Items

For starters, you need to have a lug wrench, spare tire, and tire jack. Group these together as it will make it really easy to change a flat tire or other simple tasks.

At the same time, remember that some vehicles have some specific lug nuts. If this is your case, you need to use the lug nut key, which should be included in your pack.

The second thing you need inside your car is a set of quality jumper cables. When the battery dies, it is very difficult to get the car running again.

The jumper cables cannot rev up the engine completely so an extra emergency battery booster might be necessary.

Roadside assistance is definitely a good option to consider, but usually, this means you have a really long time to wait by the side of the road.

3. Duct Tape

Duct tape can be used to deal with countless emergencies.

Every single experienced car owner can attest to that.

Duct tape is one of the most useful DIY tools you could use to deal with unexpected breaks, cracks, and leaks.

4. Tire Pressure Gauge

It is impossible to look at your tires and know the amount of air lost. With the use of the tire pressure gauge though, the check becomes incredibly fast.

You should always routinely check all the tires and make sure that pressure is exactly as high as it should be, based on the owner’s manual.

Such a tool is very cheap, under $10 and you can buy it online.

5. Cleaning Supplies

You will not save your life with some hygiene and cleaning items stored in the car, but it can surely remove a lot of possible frustration.

When you want to have an easier and cleaner trip, make sure to pack paper towels, tissues, water bottles, a car trash can, zipper-lock bags, and reusable shopping bags.

6. First Aid Kit

It is impossible to know when a first aid kit will be useful.

This is especially the case when you have children.

It might be the case that you have to clean up a small blister or a bandage while on the road.

When you spend a lot of time inside the car, some medical essentials can be really handy.

The first aid kit can vary in terms of content but some items that should be included are gauze pads, gloves, scissors, ointments, and band-aids.

The good news is that you can easily buy some pre-made car first aid kids from the internet.

Many of them are really cheap, with a complete kit costing around $15.

7. Flashlight, Flares, And Reflective Triangles

We will put all of these in the same category since they are usually used in the same setting.

They help you to deal with situations in which you need to stay safe as you perform some sort of maintenance task.

For starters, the flashlight helps you to deal with cases when light sources are limited.

For instance, when you are on the highway or in the middle of the forest and you have to change a tire.

Having a flashlight and some extra batteries inside the glovebox is a very good idea and you might want to choose a tactical flashlight, just like those used by the military and the police.

Besides the flashlight, flares or/and reflective triangles help you stay safe during the night and during poor lighting conditions, like fog.

These safety essentials should be placed around the vehicle whenever you have to stay on the street’s shoulder for a long time as they offer you enhanced visibility.

It simply is easier for ongoing traffic to see your vehicle if something is wrong.

8. A few disposable mask and a travel version of hand sanitizer

In these days of the pandemic, these items are required almost everywhere. In case you for got to take it in your bag while going out, having spare ones always in your car will save your valuable time to come back and pick up masks.

9. Phone charger

A phone is indispensable now. Be it GPS navigation, playing your favorite music or using the commute time to catch up with people or making those important phone calls. A USB charging cable is a must-have in your car!
