Sunday Round Up And Monthly Blog Update: September 2011

This is Sunday morning and in next 1 hours I have to finish this update before going out to run errand. This week-end was relatively less troublesome compared to last three weeks as I am going through the most hectic phase of work life right now.

It’s mid of October and finally I got a chance to sit down and write about the progress OCAAT is made in terms of pure stats for the month of September. The highlight is this blog is still growing, and, as compared to August result, I had a 150% traffic increase in September.

Bounce rate reduced from 73% to 70% and Average time on site increased by 0.08 second compared to August. Also number of pages per visit number increased by 0.09 which is very encouraging statistics.

In September OCAAT completed 6 months anniversary and probably also cross Google incubation period. I now see search traffic growing every week. Quiet expectantly SE traffic comes as top traffic generator. Last month it was referral traffic. In fact last week on 10/13 I saw all time high SE hits.

I am particularly encouraged by increase in direct traffic, which saw an increase of 138 direct hits in a month, an increase of almost 25%. From October onward I am expecting my feed traffic to become second most traffic generator after search engine.

On top referral sites, Frugal Dad takes top position with Get Rich Slowly, Yakezie, Twitter and Plutus Award occupying top 5 slots respectively. Among Yakezie sites, Smart Family Finance occupied the top spot, thanks Shaun! I also received sizable traffic from other Yakezie sites such as Cents To Save, Financially Consumed and So Over Debt and Sweating The Big Stuff. Thank you all!

I don’t talk about monetary aspects of the blog in my blog updates. If you are interested to know feel free to use the contact page.

In terms of back links, Majestic SEO at Money Crasher suggesting 11K back links, where as as per Google webmaster tool it is at 4.5K. My Clout score increased and compete score dropping. September also witnessed OCAAT Alexa rank came below 60K.

Now before you start thinking it’s all downhill journey for me, the first 15 days of October has been a disaster, I am simply cramping for more time to put in to the blog. Alexa rank is on decline, contents are hard to come by. I know my readers would still continue to visit this blog for another month before I come to normal 5 posts a week schedule.

Thanks you readers and fellow bloggers who assured me of continued support!

Now few of the reading I did over last week, which I want you to read.

Smart Family Finance presents the failed methods of budgeting, very interesting reading to learn how you should not budget.

The Penny Hoarder finds interesting money-making ideas every day (almost) head over to read how you can earn few bucks by going scavenger hunting.

Untemplater lists 10 tips to help family member going through financial crisis.

Family Money Values presents an interesting article on preserving family run business within the family.

Mainstream Mom presents Saving money at work.

KNS Financials presents how a smart meter can save your home energy cost.

The Frugal Toad presents the ways to avoid bank of america debit card fee, this was selected for Wisebread roundup this week.

Lastly, my friend Eric @ Dollar Versity wrote about charity and giving which I particularly liked.

Due to lack of time for past 3 weeks I am lacking on reading writing and commenting aspects of blogging, I am sure a lot of good writing were produced by fellow finance bloggers.

Readers and particularly the ones who never comments, can you please come forward and comment about this blog’s progress and the things you want to see changed? You can either leave a comment or mail me with your input.
