Save Money By Watching DIY Tips on You Tube

Youtube is not only #3 site by visitors, but perhaps the more useful than #2, the Facebook, and second only to Google. All of us in our life time (or Youtube’s) saved some money by using this site.

Youtube is probably a largest source of money-saving information on this planet? Youtube videos alone can save $100 – $500 per month depending on your spending habit.

Yesterday SMB wanted to practice a song with karaoke, the cheapest price I could find for the karaoke was $1, but pleasantly enough she suggested a Youtube search. We found it and thus saved the money!

To prepare for this post, I then started recollecting the saves we made in past few years since we have been YouTube fans, it’s amazing how many ways one can save money by just watching YouTube videos. If TV is an idiot box Youtube is surely an intelligent money-making box.

What are the ways to save money by watching Youtube

For years we have followed Youtube ‘How To’ videos and avoiding various service fees ranging from music, TV serials, technical lessons to cooking. Listing some of the saves you can realize by watching related videos on Youtube

Save money on music

There isn’t a song or a piece of musical number, that is publicly sold and not available on Youtube. Actually Youtube made CD buying a redundant expense. Before buying your next album, give Youtube a try. These days we all are on internet almost always, so you can view Youtube as your own private album. Create playlists and enjoy free music.

Save Money by not watching cable

Think it honestly, why do you watch TV? Soap opera? the reality show? cooking show? news? Every thing is available on youtube. All major news corporation have their own Youtube channels. Food network, CNBC and Fox are on Youtube. Though I still pay my cable bill, but that’s only because SMB is still not convinced. And yes, you can watch Youtube on your big screen television too.

Save Money on Cooking classes and books

In last 5 years Youtube has accumulated so much cooking videos that is beyond imagination, if you don’t count ‘Marie’, next door’s cooking video, then also the total length of shows from established chefs is huge. There is absolutely no need to enroll for baking class or cake decorating class. It’s all explained step by step by 100’s of experts on Youtube, just waiting for your search..

Save money on technical assistance

Not every one is a software specialist, you must have faced problems with your computer/network or connections etc in past, and might still be facing. Many solutions are available on the net too, but when you see some one actually solving it in a video, it become so much easier to follow. I installed WordPress on my blog by seeing the video on Youtube. SMB had a virus attack on her laptop, Youtube told us how to fix the issue with easy-to-use steps.

Save money on car maintenance

Believe it or not, your car has 1000’s of features which can be fixed by you when they go wrong. Starting from car waxing to fixing timer belt, Youtube has it all, I often wonder why doesn’t my mechanic use Youtube in his shop? Buy a few tools and you can start saving big bucks on car repairs, oil change, filter clean up, tuning etc.

Save money on hair Cut and pet grooming

Various videos are available on Youtube that teaches details and intricacies of hair cutting. Yours, or your pet’s. You may ask your partner to cut your hair he/she can learn the process by watching a few good ‘How To’ videos.

Save money by learning skills and crafts

Money not spent is money saved. Do you need a few craft for your newly modeled living room? Go to Youtube and search for related video, buy the raw materials and you will be amazed to see your own skill. Example, gardening is one important skill that you can learn by watching experts doing it on their own.

Save money on home fixing

From fixing the running water to repairing the mower, you can get all the tips from Youtube. Do you still need that handyman or does your home still need a service contract? Think again, and try to live with only Youtube, a month at a time, for all your fixing need.

Did you calculate what can be your total save when you start following above? Even if they are small, remember, we grow One Cent at a Time.

As usually, I would like to ask questions at the end. What other ways you saved money by watching Youtube videos? Don’t afraid to mention those by commenting below.

I used YouTube to help fix our jammed garbage disposal. That’s probably a savings of at least $75.

My wife has her own personal collection of watches, cost of each cell replacement run from $5 to $8 in shops, I bought 48 cells for $1 a piece from eBay, and put batteries on watches myself, the technique I learned by watching a youtube video. It has so much potential to learn new tricks.

i haven’t had to chance to do it yet, but i plan to use youtube to teach me how to do makeup application and curl my hair. i have a vague idea but i need much more specific instruction. enter youtube. i figure that will save me at least $100. this past winter i used it to learn how to make a blanket.

also, i love to use it to watch old music videos (think mtv circa 1989-90) that i can’t find anywhere else. ok, i mainly use it for this purpose. but the saving money/instructional part is certainly beneficial.

I used a video on there to fix my leaky kitchen sink. The video plus 8.50 in parts at home depot – no more leaky sink.

To even get a plumber over in my part of the country is at least $150. Win!
